In what evolved into a two-man battle against Kyle Larson on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway , the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion continued his mastery in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, beating Larson to the finish line to win the Heads Up Georgia 250 . The victory was Busch's first at the 1.54-mile track and the 77th of his career, extending his own series record. But the outcome was far from a foregone conclusion when Busch led the field to green on the final restart with 29 laps left. Busch was strong in the short run, but Larson would start to close dramatically 20 laps into a green-flag run. That's exactly what played out over the final 29 laps, as Larson began cutting into a lead that had reached more than 1.5 seconds. Making up ground in the top lane through Turns 1 and 2, Larson's No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet was within eight car lengths of Busch's No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with two laps left when Larson's progress was impeded by the lapped car of Ryan Preece through the first corner. Larson lost ground, and Busch crossed the finish line with a lead of .466 seconds. "I actually thought that last run was going to be too long," Busch said. "(Crew chief Chris) Gayle did a good job of making some adjustments to our car, and it helped me. It helped me definitely on the front side of a run, for the first 20 (laps), and I don't think it hurt me from there on to the end of the race. "But Larson was just better than us. He could close and close and close. Lapped traffic -- they were really nice to me. I think they screwed him up a couple of times. So I kind of appreciated those guys." Erik Jones , Busch's JGR teammate, rallied from an early penalty -- beating Busch, the pole winner, to the start/finish at the start of the race after Busch spun his tires -- to run third, followed by Paul Menard and series regular Ty Dillon , who earned a free pass to the lead lap under the final caution, took four tires and charged into the top five from 11th on the restart. Larson clearly had a problem with lapped traffic , but he wasn’t sure he could have passed Busch for the victory, even if he had pulled up to his rear bumper. "I definitely would have gotten closer to him, but it would have been still tough to pass him," Larson said. "He was saving his tires, I think, running the bottom, and I was running pretty hard at the top. He would definitely have moved up in front of me there in (Turns) 1 and 2, and it would have been tough to get underneath him." Elliott Sadler came home ninth and retained the series lead by three points over seventh-place finisher Daniel Suarez and five points over Dillon.

Unlike last Saturday's NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, however, there were too many laps left after the final restart in Saturday's Hisense 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series, and polesitter Austin Dillon powered past Hamlin on Lap 186 of 200 to finish the race where he belonged—at the front of the field. By the time he crossed the finish line, Dillon was 2.692 seconds ahead of Hamlin, who had taken the lead during a restart on Lap 167 that saw Dillon fall back to fourth from the inside lane by the time the leaders exited Turn 2. One by one, Dillon picked off Regan Smith , Kahne and Hamlin on the way to his second XFINITY Series victory of the season, his first at Charlotte and the fourth of his career. Kahne ran third behind Dillon and Hamlin, followed by Smith and rookies Darrell Wallace Jr . and Daniel Suarez . Ty Dillon came home seventh and trimmed the series lead of 11th-place finisher Chris Buescher to four points. Dillon led 163 laps and held an advantage of more than six seconds during a 54-lap green-flag run that preceded the second caution of the race on Lap 110. How good was Dillon's No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet? "I didn't want to get out of this thing," Dillon said in Victory Lane. "This thing drove so good. It was a heck of a race there with Denny at the end and Kasey (Kahne). I had to go right there in lapped traffic (to make the winning pass). "I knew if I didn't hurry up and get in front of him right there, the tires might equalize (in terms of grip)." But when Dillon picked the inside lane for what proved to be the final restart—after a caution for Kyle Fowler 's wreck in Turn 1—Hamlin seized what he considered a fortuitous opportunity and surged into the lead. "I thought when the 33 gave us the outside, that was a big advantage for us if we could stay with him through Turns 1 and 2," said Hamlin, who last Saturday held off Kevin Harvick in the final 10-lap shootout to win the Sprint All-Star Race. "We (did), and it allowed us to get position on him and even get him shuffled a few spots. "That was all good, but his car was just so fast he just overcame that track position." Hamlin lost the lead when the lapped car of Peyton Sellers stayed low and forced Hamlin's No. 54 Toyota to pass on the outside. "I needed to stay on the bottom," Hamlin said. "My car was best on the bottom. His car was pinned to the bottom as well. So I needed all of the lapped cars to move up high, and all of them did, except for the 97 (Sellers). He gave us the high line. That just killed us and killed our chances from that point, once the 33 got to our inside." Dillon chose the inside line because his car had worked well on the bottom for the entire race to that point. "My spotter (Andy Houston) made the fact that we should have probably taken the top, and I had been on the bottom all day, so I chose the bottom again," Dillon said. "I just didn't want to let these guys down (his crew). The Rheem car was so fast... "I thought about it, and I probably should have used the top, just because I would have had the run down the backstretch. It seems that, as the race goes on, that the outside can stop spinning the tires, and the rubber lays down... "Andy made the point, and it all worked out, but I'll definitely learn from that, for sure." Smith, Wallace, Suarez and Ty Dillon qualified for next week's XFINITY Dash 4 Cash competition at Dover as the top four finishers among series regulars. "Finally!" Logano exclaimed after taking the checkered flag in Saturday's Axalta Faster. Tougher. Brighter. 200 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Phoenix International Raceway . Logano had reason to be frustrated. He had finished second in his last four XFINITY Series starts, the last three after winning the pole. And the driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford hadn't been to Victory Lane in the series since Sept. 28, 2013 at Dover International Speedway . On Saturday, however, Logano won the pole and closed the deal. Though race runner-up Matt Kenseth dogged his rear bumper all day long and closed to .294 seconds at the finish, he couldn't catch the No. 22 Ford, which led 176 of the 200 laps at the one-mile track. "It felt good," said Logano, who collected his second win at Phoenix and the 22nd of his career. "It took a long time to get our next win. We've been so close to winning -- obviously, a lot of poles and things are going well. We just needed a little more speed, and it was awesome to get it today." Logano, who posted the second perfect driver rating of his career, pulled away after a restart on Lap 144 and stayed out front the rest of the way, with Kenseth in close pursuit. "I was able to take off faster on restarts and get a nice lead and then Matt's car was looser than mine, so that is why I was able to get a lead," Logano said. "Once we started running a few laps, I would get tight and he would start catching up to me because his balance was a little more free. "I kept hoping for lapped traffic , because I was better in traffic, and that's where I made up time." Kenseth said he thought he had a better car for the longer runs, but traffic and dirty air proved his downfall. "For whatever reason, after our last pit stop, we just didn't fire off as fast," Kenseth said. "I had way less grip than (after) every other pit stop. ... He (Logano) got away pretty good, and then when it was time to go, I just got tight running him down with all the lapped cars, and I couldn't quite get there." Kevin Harvick ran third, followed by Austin Dillon and Erik Jones , subbing for injured Kyle Busch in the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Ty Dillon came home sixth and retained the series lead by 14 points over 14th-place finisher Chris Buescher . The NASCAR XFINITY Series will be back on track next weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. No. 22 driver holds off Erik Jones and Kyle Busch RELATED: Complete Kentucky race results " Updated series standings SPARTA, Ky. -- Brad Keselowski said before Friday night's Kentucky 300 that he thought the Crosley jukebox trophy was 'cool' and he wanted one. He got it. A late two-tire call put Keselowski in front for a restart on Lap 170, and though the No. 22 Team Penske Ford ceded the lead to Jones for 22 circuits, Keselowski regained the top spot with a daring move to the inside through traffic entering the tri-oval on Lap 92 and held on to win by less than a quarter-second. The victory was Keselowski’s third at Kentucky and the 33rd of his career. Behind Keselowski, Jones and Busch, Daniel Suarez ran fourth, followed by Elliott Sadler and Paul Menard . Over the final run, Jones injected himself into what had been a two-way battle between Keselowski and Busch for the majority of the race. Keselowski made the winning move after Jones’ progress was impeded by a lapped car in Turns 3 and 4 on Lap 92. "I just caught a little break, to be honest," Keselowski said. “One of the lapped cars locked in Erik. He had done a heck of job and still was doing a heck of a job, and sometimes things don’t go your way. "I kind of thought it might happen and went into the corner high, just ready for something to happen, and it did, and I was able to make the most of it coming off Turn 4 and make the pass for the lead. "This team, the 22 team since it started in 2010, has been really a dream ride and an honor for me to be a part of it." Jones got the lead on the final restart when Busch shoved Keselowski and caused the No. 22 Ford to spin its tires. "I wish I would have known the lapped car was going to the bottom and he would have went to the top," Jones said. “Getting the lead on the restart, we had a shot at it at that point. It was good enough to maintain, and it’s a bummer it didn’t work out. "But it’s nice to be running with those guys, with Kyle and Brad, and to be mixing it up with 'em. We’ll keep building and see what we can do next time." At the outset, it didn’t take Busch long to move up from his sixth starting position to the lead. On Lap 16, the No. 54 Toyota shot past Ty Dillon through Turns 1 and 2 and took over the top spot for the first time in the race. With the exception of the restart lap after a competition caution on Lap 2 -- with Paul Menard surging ahead by a nose at the stripe to lead Lap 3 -- Busch stayed firmly in control of the proceedings until a caution for Ryan Sieg ’s spin in Turn 4 on Lap 71 slowed the field for the third time. After pit stops under yellow, Keselowski wrestled the lead from Busch on Lap 79, moments before the No. 13 of Derek White clobbered the outside wall between Turns 3 and 4 to cause the fourth caution. Undeterred by the yellow, Keselowski sped away after the subsequent restart on Lap 85 as Busch fell back to third behind Suarez. Busch, however, regained the second position on Lap 97 and narrowed his gap to the leader to a half-second before Keselowski pulled away to a 1.8-second advantage when Busch ran afoul of lapped traffic . But Busch grabbed the top spot from Keselowski during an exchange of green-flag pit stops on Laps 136 and 137, leaving Keselowski at a half-second disadvantage. With both drivers saving fuel in the event of a green-flag run to the finish, Busch opened a one-second edge and maintained it until John Wes Townley ’s brush with the wall on Lap 163 brought out the fifth caution. Busch and Keselowski led the top cars to pit road on Lap 165, with Busch opting for four tires and Keselowski, Jones and Suarez for right sides only. That left Keselowski in the lead and Busch in fourth for a restart on Lap 170. And on this night, two tires won the day, as Keselowski led Jones to the stripe by .241 seconds. Note: Eleventh-place finisher Chris Buescher extended his series lead to 36 points over Chase Elliott , who ran 13th, the first driver one lap down.
